Brigitte Willis has been operating a family childcare learning home (FCCLH) since 2018 in Grovetown, Georgia. Married to a US Army retiree, she has a son who graduated from high school in May 2020 and moved here in 2009 from Charlotte, NC. A former business major at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC, she has held management positions at Petro Express, Circle K, Family Dollar, and The Home Depot. Brigitte says, “I quickly realized that I needed to earn a certain level of income just to pay for childcare. I tried to juggle working 60+ hours per week to pay for childcare but had to rethink how to be present with my son. I made the hard decision to focus on the success and stability of my son’s continuity of care and put my career goals on hold. I immersed myself in the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) and served on many district and state superintendent’s Parent Advisory Councils (PAC).” Brigitte is very passionate about keeping families and peers informed of opportunities to advocate for our profession and networking to build bridges with society at large. She says, “Remember that you are your BEST advocate!”
